The European Commission has recently informed us that they have published on their website data on national exemptions from the scope of Regulation 1371/2007 on Rail Passenger Rights. This information as of 11 December 2009 is available at: http://ec.europa.eu/transport/passengers/rail/national_exemptions_en.htm
The Commission will constantly update this information based on contributions from Member States.
Some kind of exemption has been granted by Member States in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, (Greece: intended), Hungary, Latvia, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania.
Exemptions are “to be determined” for Spain and UK.
Information is still missing for Austria, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden.
We recall you that UITP recommends application for exemptions of urban, suburban and regional services.
Among countries which applied for exemptions, only Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovenia have not granted any exemption for urban, suburban and regional services.
